The right place to start
A room full of chaos. So many tasks! Luckily, Leo and WuselMo discover how one small beginning can make all the difference.
After breakfast, Leo came into his room.
Sunlight fell on an enormous mess: a half-built spaceship, an overturned chair, building blocks, books, clothes and a big cushion den. There was even a trainer on the windowsill.
Leo had promised Mum he would tidy up today.
He picked up a jumper.
Underneath were T-shirts, trousers and socks. On his way to the wardrobe, he almost stepped on some books and tripped over his green dinosaur. Pencils and cups from the day before lay beside it.
Leo stopped.
It was simply too much.
Something rustled in the cushion den.
Two enormous ears and a tousled orange-and-turquoise mane poked out. It was WuselMo! He watched Leo sleepily, then suddenly became wide awake.
WuselMo leapt out of the den to help.
He zoomed under the bed, sent socks flying and fluffed up his colourful fur. Things were scattered everywhere, and they all seemed to be calling at once:
“Pick me first!”
WuselMo darted back and forth.
With every new discovery, he grew brighter, shaggier and bigger. Soon he had a sock on his head, pencils in his fur and a building block between his teeth.
“Where does all this go?” he mumbled.
Leo stopped in the middle of the room.
The mess in front of him seemed enormous.
It was all too much.
“I'll never manage it,” Leo said quietly.
Then a warm breeze brushed through the room.
A tiny creature floated out of a shadowy corner. It looked as though it could see something among the jumble that was invisible to Leo. Its delicate, leaf-shaped feelers began to glow softly.
Plipp!
A little spark of light flew through the room and nudged every item of clothing, making each one glow for a moment.
Now Leo could see just the clothes.
Not the books.
Not the building blocks.
Not the whole room.
Just the clothes.
He picked them up, one by one, and put them in the laundry basket.
The little creature nodded happily.
Its feelers glowed again.
Plipp!
The spark hopped towards the comics under the bed, on the chair and inside the den.
Leo gathered them and stacked them neatly.
One comic at a time.
The tips of the delicate feelers lit up again.
Plipp!
The spark hopped from book to book. For a moment, all the books glowed together.
Leo put them on the shelf, one by one. WuselMo helped. Book by book, the pile grew smaller – and WuselMo became smaller too, his fur growing smoother.
One spark after another showed the way forward:
First the building blocks went into their box, then pencils and paper onto the desk, and finally the marbles.
One thing, then the next. Step by step.
Soon, the floor was visible again.
WuselMo sat small and fluffy on the rug. Leo took the last sock off his ear and threw it into the basket.
“Finished!” he said in surprise. His room was no longer an enormous mountain of tasks.
Leo turned towards the little creature.
“I'm Leo. And who are you?”
The little creature's leaf-shaped feelers lit up once more.
“I'm Philo,” it said gently. “I help you find a place to start.”
Now Leo understood: no matter how huge a mess or a task looks, you don't have to do it all at once.
You just need to find the right place to start – and then take it one step at a time.
Philo nodded and drifted away. His feelers shimmered softly – ready for the next little
Plipp!
Read as a team
Grown-ups read the small print. Children read the large print.
A small beginning.
A big step.
Wusel mistake hunt
What has the AI muddled up this time?
My pictures are made with the help of artificial intelligence. Not every little detail stays the same — so I’ve turned those mix-ups into a spotting game.
Look through the story again. Can you find these mistakes?
Wusel detectives, look closely!
Why does AI make mistakes like these?
🕵️ For little Wusel detectives
AI makes each picture from scratch, a bit like drawing it all over again. That means a tiny detail might change when it should stay the same. So look closely: AI can make mistakes in pictures, words and answers. Check things yourself, or ask a grown-up to help.
🔎 For grown-up Wusel companions
AI generates each picture afresh, using descriptions and reference images. It does not automatically preserve every detail from the previous picture. Colours, objects, clothes and small shapes can change even when they should stay the same. Careful instructions and checking help, but they do not always prevent every mismatch. That’s why I turn these little mix-ups into a game to explore together.

What helped Leo tidy up?
Philo showed Leo just one kind of thing at a time. That meant Leo didn't have to think about the whole room. He could begin with one small task.
Why did WuselMo become smaller and calmer again?
As Leo tidied one thing after another, the muddle grew smaller. WuselMo became calmer too – and could really help.
What could your first small step be?
Perhaps you could gather up all your pencils or put three toys into their box. Choose one small task. Then see what comes next.
