The big bet

A ball, a dinosaur and a bet. Soon Leo and Mika are inventing sillier and sillier games – with WuselMo right in the middle of it all.

Leo, Mika and WuselMo laugh together
01

Mika was visiting Leo. A little red ball lay on the rug, not far from the green dinosaur.

Mika picked up the ball and pointed at the dinosaur.

“Bet I can knock him over!”

Leo grinned. He wanted to see that.

02

Mika stood by the door and threw the ball.

The ball flew across the room, hit the dinosaur and knocked him over.

Got him!

Leo was impressed. He could do that too. Maybe even from the far end of the hall.

03

Leo took a few steps back. Suddenly, two enormous ears appeared beside the bedroom door.

WuselMo had heard there was something to win. He was wide awake at once, watching eagerly as Leo picked up the ball.

Then Leo threw it.

04

The ball whizzed through the doorway, bounced off a chair leg and hopped straight into the laundry basket.

Leo and Mika looked at each other in surprise.

The dinosaur was still standing, but that throw was brilliant.

“That deserves an extra point!” Mika called out, laughing.

05

They had already thought of their next bet: who could build the tallest tower?

Leo and Mika stacked one block on top of another. Of course, WuselMo helped, passing Leo anything he could find.

A slipper. A book. And finally, the green dinosaur.

Leo put him right on top.

06

That didn't last long.

The tower swayed to the left, then to the right – and came down with a great big CRASH.

The slipper landed right on Leo's head.

Mika laughed.

“You get a point for that too!”

07

Next came standing on one leg.

Mika wobbled to the left, Leo to the right. WuselMo joined in, of course, waving his arms so wildly that Leo had to laugh.

Then Leo lost his balance and plopped onto the rug.

Another draw.

08

Now they needed something harder.

They each put a biscuit on their forehead. Whoever could get it into their mouth without using their hands would win.

Leo and Mika wiggled their noses and pulled the silliest faces.

But the biscuits went everywhere – except into their mouths.

09

Leo tried again.

WuselMo stood in front of him and copied every face he made. First his nose wiggled, then his ears twitched, and finally he screwed up his whole face.

Leo laughed so hard that his biscuit went flying.

Straight into his glass of water.

10

After that, suddenly everything became a bet.

They blew paper balls across the floor, balanced spoons on their noses and pulled faces without laughing.

Everything earned points: one, two or sometimes even three.

Before long, nobody knew who was in the lead.

Then Mika spotted the books on Leo's desk.

Who could walk the furthest with books on their head?

Leo put a book on his head. WuselMo immediately stacked two more on top.

After three steps, the books slipped off. Mika tried to catch them, tripped over Leo – and both of them ended up on the rug, laughing.

12

After that, they invented one bet after another.

At some point, nobody paid attention to the points any more. They simply played and laughed until Mika's dad came to pick him up.

13

Only after Mika had left did Leo discover their crumpled score sheet under the desk.

At the top it said:

THE BIG BET

Leo had to grin.

He still didn't know who had won.

At first, he had really wanted to win. But somewhere along the way, the points had stopped mattering.

Then Leo understood: winning is nice, but laughing and playing together is even better.

A game after the story

Wusel mistake hunt

Look through the story again. Can you spot these mistakes?

Wusel detectives, look closely!

Why does AI make mistakes like these?

🕵️ For little Wusel detectives

AI makes each picture from scratch, a bit like drawing it all over again. That means a tiny detail might change when it should stay the same. So look closely: AI can make mistakes in pictures, words and answers. Check things yourself, or ask a grown-up to help.

🔎 For grown-up Wusel companions

AI generates each picture afresh, using descriptions and reference images. It does not automatically preserve every detail from the previous picture. Colours, objects, clothes and small shapes can change even when they should stay the same. Careful instructions and checking help, but they do not always prevent every mismatch. That’s why I turn these little mix-ups into a game to explore together.

An extra puzzle

What's wrong with the spiral notebook ?

Find the spiral notebook. What strange thing has the AI drawn? Could you turn its pages easily?

Reveal the answer

The AI has wusel-wiggled an extra binding into the picture! The notebook has spirals at the top and on the left. One side is enough – otherwise the pages can't turn properly.

After the story

Tap a question for a little idea to talk about.

Why does Mika give Leo an extra point?

Leo's ball misses the dinosaur but lands in the laundry basket. Mika thinks the throw is so funny and surprising that it deserves a point anyway.

Why do the points stop mattering?

Leo and Mika are having so much fun together that they forget to count. Playing and laughing together feels better than winning.

What funny bet would you invent with your friends?

Perhaps: who can pull a face the longest without laughing? Think of a game together that everyone can join in and enjoy.

Another adventure?

Why, though?
